Virginia’s first gift to the Delta Zeta Foundation was inspired by her mother, Betty Carol Huske Gilbert (Alpha Gamma – University of Alabama) and her daughter, a Kappa Kappa Gamma.

“Seeing Emily’s friendships deepen and her leadership opportunities expand during her college years reminded me of my own experience,” Virginia said. “That led me to become a donor and soon after, become more involved as an alumna.”

Virginia and her husband, Bob (a member of Sigma Chi), made provisions for their family in their estate plan, but also thought about the causes that mean the most to them. Their sorority and fraternity were easy decisions to name in their estate planning.

She hopes her membership in the Oxford Society inspires others in making a gift that will outlive you – and benefit Delta Zetas who come after.

“I hope it demonstrates to others that estate gifts can allow them to make gifts that are larger and more powerful than most of us can make from cash,” Virginia said.
